HISTORY OF PAINE CEMETERY:

Paine Cemetery is on the Westerly side of North Attleborough near what is known as the Holmes neighborhood.

The first burials in The Paine Cemetery were in the 1820's.  In 1877 the Paine Association was formed when the land was legally gifted by the family of Caleb Paine for use as a cemetery.  The first officers of the association were Charles E. Jordan, President; Charles F. Holmes, Treasurer and John Esten, Secretary.

Members of the Allen, Landry, Wright, Sweetland and Holmes families constitute the majority of the persons buried here.

The genealogy of many of the people buried in Paine Cemetery can be found by searching this database.
